Earlier this month more than 60 coaches attended the first-ever East Coast Coaching Conference at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The inaugural event – which was hosted by Rugby Nova Scotia – featured guest speakers from World Rugby, Rugby Canada, Rugby Americas North, Leinster Rugby, Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic and others over the two day indoor and outdoor sessions.
Player Welfare was a key topic throughout the weekend, with World Rugby’s Technical Services Researcher providing a run through of the new Activate Programme.
World Rugby launched the major new injury-prevention programme ahead of Rugby World Cup 2019 with the showcase event used to raise awareness and accelerate its use globally.
The World Rugby Activate programme is designed to assist with player welfare and safety by providing coaches with a physical preparation tool that can be implemented as part of training and as a pre-game warm-up.
