The SVG Rugby Union partnered with the Black Sands Swimming Club on Saturday 5 th May 2018 to deliver a Get into Rugby impact event for 22 boys and girls. The swim team, which had children from as young as 6 up to 16, were introduced to rugby with a number of games which looked at the key fundamentals in a fun and safe way.
Members of the Black Sands team had recently returned from Australia where they had been competing in the Commonwealth games. It was a great chance for us to introduce such elite athletes to the game of rugby. Coach Kyle Dougan also got involved and we would like to thank him for agreeing to let his team try rugby, and for his help and assistance on the day.
We hope that we can continue to develop a relationship with Black Sands, especially after a number of the children asked if we could come every Saturday. We are always looking to work with new schools, community groups and sports clubs so if you are interested in giving rugby a try please contact us;
