The SVG Rugby Union’s senior men’s team set sail for St. Lucia on Friday, February 17th for a fun-filled rugby weekend. After a 10 hour sail to Rodney Bay, the team arrived in high spirits ready to take on St. Lucia on Saturday for a 15-a- side friendly match, which was also the kick-off of the 15s league. Unfortunately due to money restraints and work commitments, a full 15-a- side team was unable to travel, so the team was mixed with some St. Lucian players.

SVG Rugby Union Men’s team in St. Lucia, February 2017
After tries from Vincentian players, Leonard Matthews, Zhane Cerdine and Giles Garraway and 2 conversions from George Kruger, the overall score was 48 St. Lucia – 19 to St. Vincent. Despite the loss it was a great weekend with our rugby neighbors and friends in St. Lucia. SVG RU would like to remind the public that we are currently recruiting both U19 & senior players, male and female and those interested should show up to practice at Sion Hill Playing Field, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.
